CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility is the management tool that every company needs to achieve success in a sustainable society while fulfilling its business purpose. It is a from of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. CSR policy functions as a self-regulatory mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law and ethical standards. CSR strategies encourage the company to make a positive impact on the environment including customers, employees, investors, communities, and others.

At Bharti Road Carrier(BRC), we have always believed that good values and good business go hand in hand. It’s a part of our culture as well as the way we do things. Sustainability is about future viability and growing our business responsibly, with the aim of ensuring that the future generations enjoy a healthy environment as well as stable economic and social conditions. Our organisation is committed to this guiding principle. We have a tradition of caring for the environment and enriching the quality of lives of the communities we live and work with through a variety of programs. The company has taken small but confident steps in promoting road safety, health, education and environment within the corporation and externally.

The guiding principle of BRC Corporate Social Responsibility programs is ‘Empowerment’ where empowerment is a process of strengthening the future today, so that risks are minimized, value created and certainty is experienced. We strive to ensure that the communities engaged through our CSR initiatives also experience certainty in their lives. Attention to the cause of health acknowledges that health is a vital precondition for promoting social good. Concern for the environment is in line with our belief that this global cause demands our attention to ensure a sustainable and productive planet. These themes are established centrally for adoption or adaptation across all geographies.

One of the biggest challenges for the logistics industry is Skills Gap. BRC believes that co-operation and collaboration with like-minded organisations can bring about a world of difference in combating this challenge. Our senior employees provide their services as guest faculty in institutes offering courses in logistics and supply chain management. In addition to this, we also offer warehouse visits and internship projects to students whenever possible.

Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change

As an educated and aware citizen and as a part of an industry that contributes significantly to carbon footprint, we feel it is our moral and social responsibility to help in whatever small way we can to heal our planet. BRC periodically organises tree plantation activity also called ‘Plant A Tree Program’ (PATP) across all our offices in India. Also, rain water harvesting is implemented in warehouses wherever feasible. Some of our warehouses use transparent roofing to curtail use of electricity for lighting, LED lighting are used instead of regular light bulbs in corporate office and regional offices. Recycle paper bins are kept in all our offices where employees can dump their used papers which are then exchanged with vendors for recycled paper. We also ensure that all our company vehicles hold a valid pollution certificate (PUC) at all times.
